GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Only 19 overs were possible as rain wrecked the second day of the day/night Regional Four-Day encounter between Guyana Jaguars and Barbados Pride here Saturday.
Wet conditions at the National Stadium delayed the start by 1-½ hours and when the rains returned after the end of the first session, Pride were in recovery mode at 48 for two, in reply to Jaguars’ first innings of 311.
A persistent drizzle for the next few hours then forced match officials to call play off at 9:20 pm.
West Indies batsman Shai Hope was unbeaten on 20 while Shamarh Brooks was on 10, in an unbroken stand of 31 for the third wicket.
The came together with Pride struggling on 17 for two, after in-form left-hander Anthony Alleyne (8) and captain Kraigg Brathwaite (6) perished cheaply.
Alleyne, already with over 400 runs this season, was caught at gully off Barbadian left-arm seamer Raymon Reifer in the fourth over of the day.
And Brathwaite, in his first innings of the new season, was taken down the leg-side by wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble off pacer Keon Joseph four balls later in the following over.
